Celebrating World Environment Day: How Belize Protects its Natural Resources

Rhondine Petrof • June 5, 2023

Introduction

World Environment Day is a global celebration of our planet's natural wonders and a call to action for environmental preservation.

Belize, a small country in Central America, is leading the way with its commitment to protecting its unique ecosystems and promoting sustainable development.

This year, Belize is celebrating World Environment Day with a series of events and activities to raise awareness about environmental issues, including hyper campaigns about eliminating single-use plastic.

June 5th marks the annual celebration of World Environment Day, which is dedicated to preserving our natural environment. This year's focus is on the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution", with events happening globally to raise awareness about the negative impact of single-use plastic.

A significant concern is the effect of plastic on wildlife and the loss of their habitat. Belize has been a pioneer in environmental conservation since gaining independence in 1981.
